Evan Burley Puts The Brakes
On The Schroeder Attack
“We generated a lot of
shots, but we couldn’t put them away,” Mulheron said. “Their goalie played well.
We just didn’t finish. “It felt like we had a ton of opportunities,
especially early. We had a chance in the first quarter to be up three, four or
five, and we didn’t get them in. They played a lot of zone and we weren’t as
patient at times as we wanted to be. Their coaching staff did a great job of
preparing them. They’re a good program. We’re happy with the win.” Connor
Henderson paced the Braves as the senior attacker had a hand in CA’s first four
goals. He opened the scoring with a low whip shot with 3:59 left in the first
quarter and then picked up an assist on a goal by Andrew Knoblauch about a
minute-and-a-half later. Billy Harris scored for Schroeder with 50 seconds to
play in the quarter. Gannon Osborn gave the visitors a 3-1 edge before
Henderson used another low whip shot, off a pass from Knoblauch, to score with
1.2 seconds left for a 4-1 halftime advantage. “He’s a heck of a player,”
Mulheron said of Henderson. “Our attackmen are really playing well. We’re
pleased with that part of the game. “We’ve got to get a little bit more out
of some other spots and just continue to improve. This is still just the fourth
time we’ve been on the field. We’ve played two scrimmages and two games. We’re
still rough around the edges, but we’ve got to get better in a hurry.” The
Braves won their opener Saturday against McQuaid, 12-3.
